[texpoint-users] What resolution to choose

Hi,

This depends not on the size of your output device, but on its resolution.
It also depends on the magnification of the TexPoint displays.
The latter is set to 200% by default, meaning that the resulting resolution is only half of the one you choose.
Since the resolution of projectors is equal or less than your screen resolution, 600dpi is usually sufficient when you
do not magnify/stretch the display too much (the resulting resolution=(chosen resolution)/(magnification) should not be
 less than about 100dpi).
For printing this is a bit different: If you want to have good quality on your printouts, you should have a resulting
resolution of 600dpi or more, meaning you should take 1200dpi and more, depending on the magnification.

Personally, I think 1200dpi is a good all-purpose resolution for standard usage. (btw. this is the build-in default
resolution.)

Andreas.
