[texpoint-users] inline subscripts don't descend (Word 2003, 2007)

Hi.

Word inline subscript "\mu_x" becomes "ux", with "x" on the
same baseline as "u", as if the underscore were never typed.

This happens in Word 2003 & 2007. Powerpoint \mu_x works ok.
(Windows-XP SP3, Texpoint 3.2.1, ams fonts, emf outline).

This is so fundamental, yet I see no FAQ or archive reference.
I suspect something in my setup, rather than an unreported bug.
What should I check?
