[texpoint-users] inline math mode - font problem

Hi all,

I'm a new user of the trial version of TexPoint (version 3.2.1) - with
PowerPoint 2007.

From what I can tell, the inline "math mode" (cmmi10) font included
with TexPoint seems to be lacking certain mathematical symbols. As a
consequence, if I type an equation like "(x^2 + 2) = 0," then Texify the
equation and convert it to cmmi10 font, some of it looks great, but the
parentheses and the + sign get mangled. (The equals sign, for example,
looks like a forward slash.) I can work around the problem by manually
alternating fonts (for example, using cmss10 for the parentheses and
equals sign, and cmmi10 for the rest)... eventually I get something that
looks reasonable, but this is quite tedious.

I'm just trying to find an easy way to make inline equations that look
decent. Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? I suspect there might
be an easy solution, although I have searched the archives and manual to
no avail.

Thanks!

Dave
