When I write \sqrt{A+B} the root sign is deficient, essentially only the
line over (A+B) is visible, the vee is not.
In contrast, when I write \sqrt{A+\frac B A} the root sign comes out properly.
I have learned that AMS code for mathematical signs are not accepted. Is
there an accepted code for "approximately less than". I have no better trick
than to write <~ .
